Paddle sports are taking the nation by storm for their fitness benefits and the joy of being on the water – without a motor! Whether you’re a new paddler or looking for the latest paddle techniques, you’ll find it at PaddlePalooza.
 
Kayaking & Paddle Boarding Demos on the Dock—free
Stand-Up Paddling, also known as SUP, continues to be the fastest growing global water sport today, surpassing kayaking!   Never tried it?  No worries mate!  With the use of a simulator and skilled staff, we'll teach you all you need to 'give it a go'.  Single and double kayaks are available for kids 6 years+ (10 years+ on the paddle boards).  Want some help?  If we're not too busy we're happy to get out on the water with you!  15 mins in a protected water area.
 
 
Private Paddle Boarding Lessons, by appointment $50:
Looking for something more?  Private lessons are available by appointment for $50, just ask the crew.  Using a paddle (like an oar) you’ll learn the fundamentals and technique that will enable you to get on and off, paddle straight, turn, and feel confident and safe on your board.
  
Kids SUP Fun Saturday and Sunday 11am and 3:30pm, free
Join us for sprints, relays, board swapping, rescues, PaddleFit, some yoga moves - all manner of organized chaos on the water!  Kids 10 years+
 

Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center

Watch, learn and do! If you’re a do-it-yourselfer or boat owner interested in maintaining, repairing or upgrading your boat or engine, head to Fred’s Shed for practical, professional advice. Free, daily seminars and talk-show format clinics cover a variety of topics, and include demos and question/answer. Together, hosts “The Boating Guy,” and certified marine service technician Fred, bring more than 50 years of boating experience to the Shed and will be on site to share their expertise. Stop by to see the cutaway boat and motor, participate in hands-on clinics and get your questions answered. Best of all, it’s all FREE, compliments of the Show.

Discover Boating Hands-On Skills Training

On-the-water learning events—only at the boat show! 
Nothing beats hands-on experience when it comes to improving your boating skills and learning new ones. This year’s show features a full schedule of one-hour and three-hour hands-on, on-the-water workshops designed to add more fun and excitement to your boat show experience…and take your boating skills up a notch. There’s something for everyone—from absolute beginners to seasoned skippers!  

Learn from experts: All sessions are taught by USCG licensed captains who are also certified professional instructors. 

 

One-Hour Powerboating Workshops

Learn through hands on, on-the water exercises. Limited to four persons per boat. Choose from:

  • Basic Docking and Fundamental Close Quarters Maneuvering Skills 
  • Advanced Docking Skills 
  • Open Water Boat Handling and Safety
  • Anchoring & Multi-Vessel Rafting

Advance registration highly recommended. Registration fee: $15 advance online registration or $20 at the show. (Show admission not included.)

Three-Hour Powerboating Workshops

These 3-hour underway sessions feature additional skills training and more practice time for an even greater learning experience. Choose from:

Advance registration highly recommended. Registration fee: $99 advance online registration or $125 at the show. Participants who register in advance will also receive FREE boat show admission for the day.

Premium Workshops

2-hour interactive workshops will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Each session offers intesive training & information you need to operate your boat with confidence, enhance your on-the-water fun and ensure the safety of your crew. The $99 workshop fee includes: two days of show admission, a 2-hour intensive workshop, instructional take away items, and a $50 gift certificate for classes at Annapolis School of Seamanship and more. (More than a $150 value!) These workshops are different and much more in-depth than the free. Get a little learning in at the show! Marine Diesel Class

The Annapolis School of Seamanship is offering this unique opportunity to attend a one-day Marine Diesel Class during the Progressive Norwalk Boat Show. Attendees will receive in-depth instruction and hands-on participation, as well as many extras. The $199 class fee includes: two days of show admission, a full day of class, instructional take away items, and a $50 gift certificate for classes at Annapolis School of Seamanship and more. (More than a $300 value!) This class is a unique opportunity to experience in-depth learning, much greater than a workshop or a seminar at the show! FREE! Boating, Sailing & Fishing Education 

Informative & entertaining. 30-minute sessions are hosted by staff from the Annapolis School of Seamanship. Topics covered include diesel engine basics, GPS navigation and the latest fishing techniques.

ASOS Nautis Boating Simulator—Test your boating skills

Head to the Seminar Area (space 219) to take the helm of a virtual boat and get a feel for the water without leaving dry land. The Nautis boating simulator makes learning fun, with hands-on training for boaters of all skill levels—new boaters can practice basic boat handling, while experienced mariners can attempt more complicated maneuvers as well as navigation, collision avoidance and more! This awesome training tool is brought to you by the great people at the Annapolis School of Seamanship.
